What a success the NBA’s Basketball School In House Developmental League was this year. Starting just two terms ago, 275 out of our 300 players now have had the opportunity to play a high level game every Saturday morning against all players in our program. The last term was even better than the previous, as each team received custom NBA/WNBA jerseys with the NBA Basketball School logo placed on the front.
Creating this league was an important task for the staff, as it presents an opportunity to create an environment that captures the culture of our program. It isn’t just winning and losing, it is also about instilling values about what it means to be a great teammate, a strong leader, and to emphasize fun…it is a game after all!
Our players have loved the experience, commenting on the consistency of the games and the level of competition they face. They feel very proud each Saturday to walk in with their team jersey on and play hard for one another. The commentating from the score’s table has been a highlight for all; as nothing sounds better than hearing your name come out through the speaker!
As the school continues to grow, so will our In House Developmental League. In looking forward we are excited to provide a two-tiered league that will maximize competition. We will also be introducing new, fun ideas for term one and term two as they will coincide with the NBA and WNBA regular season games.
